MET BALL 2013 - IT'S ALL BLACK AND WHITE

Another big trend of the night was black and white - two tone dressing and it was glamorous all the way. These looks are worthy of any red carpet!

Strikingly beautiful and utterly flawless Blake Lively dazzled in her highly detailed two tone creation.

Gwen Stefani looked somewhat familiar in her midriff baring black and white ensemble with it's bodice looking like a beautiful gift all wrapped up.

Leelee Sobieski has such a presence about her and she does not fail to deliver yet again in this marvelously simple gown brought to life by the sheer detailed sleeves. She is always effortlessly beautiful and dramatic.

MET BALL 2013 - THE NOT SO NICE SIDE OF PUNK

Let's face it, punk in it's truest form is jarring, trashy, non conformist, anti social and mostly just plain ugly so perhaps this next group of ladies were the ones who really got the theme of the night right.... so here it is in all it's ugly glory!!

Sarah Jessica Parker looked like the queen of crazy punkdom. With a mohawke crown, black tulle, tartan boots and abstract printed gown she is all of the above. I actually love the gown on it's own but can someone please tell Ms. Parker no-one ever wants to see her lace panties again!!!

One of the few to rival S.J.P's attention grabbing eyesore was Madonna... yep... need we say more??

MET BALL 2013 - GLAMOROUS PUNKS!

There were a few daring ladies who really embraced the punk theme of this years ball opting for darker moody looks.

At the top of my list was Anne Hathaway. Giving us a glam punk look with her newly bleached locks and peek a boo black gown with feather details I can see Anne behind a mic being a glamorous anarchist.

Fishnet and punk has always gone hand in hand. Miley Cyrus embraced the theme with her piercing spiked hair do and slinky gown giving us another glam take on punk.

Rosie Huntington Whiteley took my break away in this moody, slinky gown. The fluidity of the skirt and the feathers evokes images of the decadent 1920's. Then there's that fishnet bodice - just glorious!!

MET BALL 2013 - WHITE HOT TREND

It's been a while girls and boys but the call of the 2013 MET Ball was all too much so let's get down to business. With a "punk" theme this year I had high hopes for some very intriguing looks but for the most part it seems "couture punk" is quite demure. Who would have guessed right? Having said that, there were still some great looks to behold... here are some...

White hot was the biggest trend of the night. The quietly beautiful Rooney Mara (who also co-chaired the event) stepped out in a divine Givenchy creation. Her naturally pale skin, signature deep lip and the zippers add edge to this look. One of my faves of the night this girl hardly ever gets it wrong!

Nicole Richie followed the trend in head to toe white, literally! I love the cheek of the white hair with the otherwise demure column gown. Not punk per say but definitely a head turner, Nicole rocks!

Olivia Wilde rocked in a beautiful strapless column white gown with dangerous cutouts and a belt detail. The dress hugs her figure superbly I just wished she amped up her makeup with a bold lip or dark mysterious eye.

Sienna Miller followed suit with her simple white gown choosing to throw her hair over to one side a la "90"s punk rock style. This girl knows her punk, adding a spiked headband and heavily spiked leather jacket she looks like she's having a whole lotta fun!

Katie Holmes was a vision in white. There was a subtlety to her look with a ripped detail on her train, khol rimmed eyes and a pompadour.

No Fuss Glamorous Hair & Makeup - Red Lip & Ponytail

Got a date or celebration but just don't have the time to fuss over hair and makeup?? Here are some easy breezy looks that take the simplicity of a no fuss ponytail to new heights of glamour. Even on your worse hair day these are no fail looks that will work for everyone!!

The key to taking the ponytail from the gym to a dramatic and bold evening look is down to two things -

1.  A bold and bright lipstick like a red or coral that draws attention to your mouth and instantly screams glamour.

2. Beautiful accessories such as dangly earrings for even greater impact.

Simple no?

Miranda Kerr gives us the perfect example of how the humble ponytail can be transformed into a statement making style. With a little bit of volume on her crown, a smoky eye and beautiful bold lip there is nothing boring about this ponytail!

Dakota Johnson shows how a low ponytail and bangs with a beautiful raspberry lip makes for a playful yet sexy evening look minus all the fuss and effort.

Kate Bosworth is ravishing with a low tousled pony over the side of her shoulder. Her look is high impact and dramatic with the bold red lip and vintage marquisite drop earrings. It proves that you don't have to wear much make up to create a strong evening look.

Things We Love - Glitter Nails BYS Glitter Kits

What a lovely surpise in my inbox today! BYS has a great little glitter nail kit that we simply must try!! In the past I've used enamel with the glitter in it. My favorite one is actually from BYS, it's clear with silver glitter and it's by far one of the better ones I've used. I often get people asking if I'm in fact wearing nail stickers because the effect is so good. It does however take quite a few coats to get the effect I like and I'm quite impatient so this new little kit looks just perfect for me.

The steps look to be very easy and the colors are great! I think the main reason it's all so simple is because the enamel color matches the glitter so perfectly, hard to go wrong, right? :) My faves are "magic slippers" and "tiffany twinkle".  Individual packs retail at $7.95 you can purchase them online at fashionaddict.com.au or try your local chemist / BYS reseller.

They also have a great little Youtube tutorial that shows just how easy the process is.

I can't wait to get my hot little hands on one of these packs. At $7.95 I think it's a steal and I hope it delivers as well as I'm hoping. If you've already tried the packs drop us a line and let us know your thoughts!

Enjoy,

Things We Love - Quick and Easy Icey Treats

Melbourne is in a heat wave and we don't know what to do with ourselves :( In an effort to take my mind off the fact that I feel like a chicken roasting here are some delicious and pretty healthy icey treats you can make at home!

Natural healthy mag has some interesting and healthy recipes for home made icey poles. My fave is definitely the Berry Breeze!!

BERRY BREEZE
You will need:
  • 250g fresh berries
  • 1-2 tbs of sweetener, or to taste
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 4 tbs water or fruit juice
Method: Add berries, sweetener and lemon juice to a food processor. Blend until combined, leaving a few chunks of berry for texture. Freeze till frozen - usually around 4 - 6 hours.

If you're up for something that will really impress why not try these super dooper watermelon pops! It only takes a handful of ingredients (you can leave off the lime sherbert rind if you prefer). Check out the details at Eat Yourself Skinny

WATERMELON ICEY POPS
You will need:
  • 5 cups seedless watermelon pulp
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (for the seeds)
  • 1 pint lime sherbet, softened (for the rind)
Here's to keeping cool!
